Nature Sketchbooks

My sketchbooks are an important part of my process. Drawn from life, they're filled with ideas inspired by the world around me. Whether detailed studies of plants, quick sketches or colour studies, all kinds of observations, ideas and experiments go into them. They inform my illustration practice. I investigate and play with all kinds of materials whether fabric, thread, papers, pins, watercolour, coloured pencils or pastels. I’m especially inspired by botanical illustration, so studies of flora often feature in my sketchbooks.
